Who We Are
Bexar County Master Gardeners are members of the local community who have received special training in horticulture from the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Bexar County. We provide unbiased, researched-based, locally relevant gardening information to the community through a variety of programs.
As a volunteer educational arm of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, the mission of the Bexar County Master Gardeners is to educate our community and surrounding areas on water conservation and research-based gardening practices and techniques as developed by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of the Texas A&M University System.
Working hand-in-hand with its Texas A&M System partners, the state legislature, and the communities it serves, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service serves Texans through community-based education. As part of the education services, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension oversees the Master Gardener program. Bexar County Master Gardeners work closely with the Bexar County Extension office.
SAWS is a public utility owned by the City of San Antonio. San Antonio has been recognized nationally for its novel conservation efforts and proactive water management planning. SAWS partners with the Bexar County Master Gardeners to provide water conservation educational programs.
